The array of species on the Andrews Forest is typical of northwestern forest landscapes. Because of the abundance of undisturbed old-growth forest stands, certain species have exceptional representation. The northern flying squirrel, red-tree vole, California red-backed vole, and the northern spotted owl are some examples. Data Use Agreement: The re-use of scientific data has the potential to greatly increase communication, collaboration and synthesis within and among disciplines, and thus is fostered, supported and encouraged. Elevation ranges from 1350 to 5340 feet (410 to 1630 m). Broadly representative of the rugged mountainous landscape of the Pacific Northwest, the Andrews Forest contains excellent examples of the region's conifer forests and associated wildlife and stream ecosystems. These forests are among the tallest and most productive in the world, with tree heights of often greater than 250 ft (75 m).
