Lookout Creek is the primary watershed draining the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest, and the USGS maintains a continuous stream gage near the creek's confluence with the Blue River. Because it integrates runoff from the entire Andrews watershed, this gage provides the best single-station overview of streamflow conditions across the site — making it especially useful for quickly assessing flood or drought conditions in real time.
This gage is operated and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) as part of their National Water Information System, independent of the Andrews Forest LTER program. Real-time stage height, discharge, and historical records are hosted on the USGS website. For higher-resolution, station-level streamflow data collected within the Andrews Forest, see our internal stream measurement records.
