Soil and Decomposition Studies 2007

One focus of research at the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest is soil.  Researchers categorize the soil types in the forest, measure how much carbon is stored within the soil, and track decomposition rates.  This gallery features field work that measured CO2 flux on logs as part of the 200-year log decomposition study, and sampling for CO2 isotopes in the DIRT (detritus input and removal treatment) plots.
